ETHIOPIAN HONEY SIDAMA 010

Ethiopian coffees are highly sought after for their distinctive and extraordinary flavor profiles. This is a beautifully clean, floral coffee from the Bensa region in Sidama, Ethiopia. Sidama is a wet, rainy, and high-altitude region concentrated with lakes and rivers. Sidama's terroir of cool weather and fertile soil produces some of the most prized coffee in Ethiopia.

The white honey process used to dry the coffee seed provides this coffee with a very floral flavor. Your palate is greeted by an exceptionally clean coffee with a fruit-like sweetness along with notes of jasmine, amaretto, and caramel.

ETHIOPIA -QUNQANA WASHING STATION- DAYE BENSA FARM

Qunqana washing station is located in the Bensa region of Sidama in Ethiopia.  Its founders, Asefa Dukamo and MuluGeta Dukamo, opened this washing station under their company name, Daye Bensa Coffee. As a teenager, Asefa started to do many jobs, which later progressed to becoming a coffee supplier to washing stations. His job as a coffee supplier was the birth of his dream of becoming the owner of a washing station. His dream became a reality by setting up his first-ever washing station in Girja village, less than a mile from his parents’ house.

Great morning coffee!

A new favorite. I got my first pour-over of this coffee visiting Heady Cup at Woodstock farmer's market. The initial impression was floral and a little vegetal. Makes me think of tulip bulbs. Good acidity, like a spritz of lemon. Undertones of savory flavors. Caramel or a little milk chocolate. You get the almost wine-like mouthfeel that people talk about with Ethiopian coffee.

My wife describes it as "juicy". She says this coffee is the best for mixing with creamers and flavors. Since cracking open this bag she's made a morning ritual of trying some new combination of flavor shots. She gets so excited she wants me to have a sip. I still take mine black, but every combination has been a winner.

This coffee is great any way you make it. Pour-over, Aeropress, Mokapot. With cream or without. This is a great example of Ethiopian coffee. Full of character, but easy to enjoy.
