Meet the Heady Crew - Owner, Michael Kivland
Some people walk into the world of coffee. “Michael” ran. Literally, through rain, through wind, through ankle-deep Crystal Lake mud, and the concrete arteries of Chicago marathons, he ran.
And somewhere along the way, between mile markers and matchday heartbreaks, he had a vision: coffee that hits as hard as a Brian Dawkins tackle and lingers longer than extra time at White Hart Lane.
You know him as Michael Kivland; we revere him as Joe. A father of three beautiful children and husband to a beautiful wife, Jill, who is his heartbeat.
A diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, he bleeds green and talks with his hands.
A Tottenham Hotspur lifer, which means he understands the ache of hope and the art of resilience.
That same stubborn optimism courses through every event, every blend, every back-alley batch of Heady Cup’s mind-bending coffee.
Heady Cup isn’t just a coffee company; it’s Michael’s living mixtape.
Equal parts quantum coffee theory, Ghostface Killah swagger, and carbon-footprint accountability.
Wu-Tang raised him.
Fatherhood reshaped him.
Joe just channeled him.
A devoted husband with a laugh like a record scratch in heaven and the kind of quiet conviction that can only be built from 3 a.m. feedings, back-to-back-to-back bedtime stories, and the sacred chaos of three tiny humans reshuffling your soul.
If he’s not at a cupping table or returning messages, he’s probably up north getting lost in the woods, chasing the horizon like it owes him something, or cruising across the lake on a 17’ boat shouting “COYS” with tears in his eyes and a Lemon Heady in his hand.
Heady Joe. All heart. All in.
A special shout-out to Michael’s sister, Chelsey Kivland. Chelsey has a brain tumor that destroyed her vision, but not her spirit. Chelsey is a mother of two, a Dartmouth professor, a survivor, and one of the world’s foremost scholars on Haiti. She is Joe’s hero.
One love.
