Ethiopia Gedeb Chelbessa

Ethiopia - Gedeb Chelbessa

The coffee is produced by Moplaco, a family coffee company founded by Yiannis Georgalis in 1971 and led by his daughter, Heleanna Georgalis, since 2008. After returning to Ethiopia to take over the company, Heleanna expanded Moplaco's work through farms and washing stations in several coffee-growing areas, including Gedeb and Gedeo.

This coffee comes from about 200 smallholder producers. A little wild, beautifully complex, and exactly the kind of coffee we live for. Working on farms ranging from just a fraction of a hectare to two hectares, these farmers grow indigenous Ethiopian landraces at elevations up to 2,000 meters. Here, coffee isn’t just a crop. It’s not a hobby either, but a way of life, handed down through generations.

This is a Ethiopia coffee lover's dream. We love this cup for its citric forward profile, kiss of bergamot floral and a smooth sweet finish.

Moplaco coffee company

Produced by Moplaco, a family coffee company founded in 1971, this coffee carries a legacy of Ethiopian coffee craftsmanship. Today, the company is led by Heleanna Georgalis, who took the reins in 2008 and expanded its work across some of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions.

A family business with deep roots, a forward-thinking approach, and a commitment to exploring just how extraordinary Ethiopian coffee can be.

Flavor Notes

Who doesn't love a classic Yirgacheffe that has a little wild side. Think of this as your favorite record being remixed with all your favorite artists. Classic Yirgacheffe profile with a citrus note that is tearing up the track. Bright, expressive, and unapologetically Ethiopian.

Expect a lively combination of juicy watermelon, ripe peach, citrus zest, and delicate florals. A clean, refreshing sweetness dances across the palate, finishing with the elegance of black tea.

It’s the kind of coffee that keeps revealing a little more with every sip. Complex without being complicated. Delicate without disappearing.
